Incorporated as a benevolent non-profit corporation in 1950 and renewed as a 501(c)(3) charity in 2000 to enforce their intention to entertain and teach the public about model railroading, and also practicing safety around railroad facilities, and to help restore and preserve a railroad depot they purchased.
