Metro Theater Company

A nonprofit organization

Metro Theater Company (MTC) is an award-winning professional theater for youth and family audiences with extensive education and community programs. MTC is nationally known for community engagement, world and US premieres and providing children with the highest caliber of production values. We provide a platform to inspire shared reflection, empower young people, and foster stronger communities. Major programs include:

Touring productions for young people in schools, professional theater venues, and embedded community sites in the STL region and around the country
- Tours connect directly to classroom curriculum and local issues, reaching audiences ages 2-18 & adults

Mainstage productions (non-touring) activate broad community dialogue and collaborations throughout the STL region
- Mainstage productions engage thousands of students during school matinees and multi-generational audiences at public performances

New work development to create relevant theater that speaks to the issues facing young people and families today
- MTC commissions top playwrights across the country to create ground-breaking theater for all audiences

Education programs in schools, community settings, and therapeutic spaces
- Award-winning programs include arts-integrated core curriculum (arts to teach STEAM, literacy, social studies, etc.), character education, anti-bullying/crisis prevention and community building

Guided by a vision of STL youth reaching their full potential without barriers, unique community collaborations are the hallmark of MTC programming. MTC is known locally and nationally for aligning arts, education, civic engagement, public health, social services, religious, and cultural institutions to better support children and families.
