Missouri Asian American Youth Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Pulled together a women's press conference at City Hall to unify against AAPI Hate and to hear from Asian American women how we've been impacted by anti-Asian incidents and hate crimes not just in the past year but for our whole lives. Last year, we reached 15,000 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) voters in Missouri in multiple languages to help them figure out voting in a pandemic. We also pulled together communities across the state to ensure a Complete Count in the Census, working in partnership with the Hispanic and Black communities. We are also working on vaccine equity for our elders who are limited English proficient: https://news.stlpublicradio.org/health-science-environment/2021-03-15/asian-americans-in-st-louis-push-for-vaccine-information-in-their-languages

These funds will go toward youth summer fellows to work on empowering our communities to #StopAAPIHate including bullying in schools, which turns into hate incidents and crimes as bullies turn into adults. We have $4,000 of matching funds.

Mission

The mission of the Foundation shall be to connect, engage, and inspire people to transform our community by developing leadership and advocacy skills amongst youth in Missouri, particularly in the Asian Pacific American community.
