More than 40 years ago, a small group of grieving parents came together after losing their children to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Bound by heartbreak and a fierce determination that no other family should endure such loss alone, they founded Infant Loss Resources.

What began as a support circle has grown into a vital lifeline. Through tireless outreach, professional training, and risk-reduction education, Infant Loss Resources has been instrumental in lowering infant mortality rates. Each year, the organization provides lifesaving Safe Sleep education to more than 400 professional and community groups, equipping over 3,000 individuals—including nurses, childcare providers, and social workers—with the knowledge to protect vulnerable lives.

When tragedy strikes, we ensure families never face it alone. Infant Loss Resources provides free, compassionate bereavement support to more than 200 families annually. Our trained specialists walk beside parents navigating shock and grief, offering understanding and hope during their darkest moments.

With regional offices in St. Louis and Kansas City and a satellite office in Springfield, we serve families throughout Missouri and surrounding counties in Illinois and Kansas. What started as shared sorrow has become a statewide movement of education, prevention, and unwavering compassion.

Every baby deserves a safe start, and every grieving family deserves support.

Mission

Our mission is to promote safe practices which reduce the risk of infant death and to provide grief support for families who have lost babies.
