Food Outreach is the only St. Louis-area organization providing free nutritional support to low-income individuals of all ages living with HIV/AIDS or cancer receiving treatment in St. Louis. Founded in 1988 with seven clients, we now provide healthy meals, dietetic counseling and education to an average of 2,000 people annually: who are under-resourced, whose illness makes it difficult to prepare healthy meals, or who are in the workplace but we can extend their employment by removing extraneous demands.

DIETETIC COUNSELING - Our Registered Dietitian meets with every client at intake and evaluates their nutrition status, which forms the basis for a personalized eating plan. During the client's enrollment, the Dietitian monitors progress toward goals and provides ongoing individualized dietetic counseling.

FRESHLY PREPARED MEALS & GROCERIES - Food Outreach provides a combination of healthy prepared meals and groceries to clients year round. Menu items include scratch-prepared frozen meals, produce and shelf-stable goods. Clients choose foods that will best serve their needs.

MONDAY HOT LUNCH - Our weekly Monday Hot Lunch program offers clients opportunities for fellowship and social interaction. Volunteers prepare and serve lunch to clients restaurant style.

NUTRITION EDUCATION & COOKING CLASSES - The monthly Nutrition Education Series called, "Breakfast at Food Outreach" includes a nutritious breakfast and a discussion about the importance of proper diet. Food Outreach also hosts cooking classes to introduce clients to new foods, encourage variety in diets and promote self-sufficiency.

MEAL HOME DELIVERY - We deliver up to 60 meals (two meals per day) every month to each home-bound client enrolled in this program.
"I feel heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Food Outreach. It was a truly helpful program at a time when nutrition was important in my course of treatment. I didn't have the energy or means to have such well-balanced and delicious meals. The staff at Food Outreach were always very polite and helpful. This is truly a wonderful and vital organization to a lot of people in their time of need. I also learned so much about healthy eating." -- Barbara

"Food Outreach has helped me tremendously. Times when food is very low or none at all Food Outreach is the only thing I have to rely on. That makes me comfortable knowing they are a good staff of people and volunteers working to assure that I and others like me won't go hungry. I'm so appreciative and consider myself blessed and counted. Thank you Food Outreach." -- NIta

"I am very appreciative of the diligence, professionalism, and kindness of everyone (donors and volunteers) of Food Outreach. If I didn't have you, I'd literally starve. Kudos and a huge thanks for all that you do." -- Anonymous
