Field Projects International

A nonprofit organization

This year, we had been planning to expand our wildlife monitoring capabilities by fundraising for the wider deployment of custom technologies that we've had in development over the last year. However, the COVID-19 crisis has seriously impacted our basic operational funding and field presence, which means that our greatest priority at this point is to keep our basic programming and research intact.

Over the last decade we have been studying primate groups and other wildlife in the Peruvian Amazon, while also providing hands-on training for new scientists and conservationists. This summer we want to continue our inquiries into wildlife disease ecology (now clearly more important than ever), primate reproduction and endocrinology, spatial monitoring and habitat use, and more. The applications of this knowledge ranges from a better understanding of how pathogens and parasites move between populations and species, to gaining clearer knowledge about the habitat requirements and important factors influencing the population resilience of wildlife communities.

Mission

Field Projects International provides research training to students in the natural sciences by taking them to regions of high biodiversity and of elevated conservation risk. We bring experienced biologists and exceptional teachers together with students of all backgrounds in order to educate the next generation of natural historians and conservationists. We believe that science is for everyone and our mission is to democratize access to it.
