This year, we are asking for your help with moving costs as we leave our office of 12 years. We are unable to afford to stay in our current office in Tower Grove South due to a 26% increase in rent in 15 months. Your support this Give STL Day will help cover storage space for our Recycling On the Go and Earth Day Festival equipment, deposits, a moving truck, and other unexpected costs (there’s always something with moving, right?). We’re sad to close this chapter in this way, but hope to find something even better in the coming months.
Even during this transition, we’re keeping our year-round programs alive and supporting the St. Louis community. With your support, earthday365 will continue to work at the nexus of climate change, environmental justice, and waste reduction to help make our regional economy circular instead of disposable. Our signature event is the annual annual St. Louis Earth Day Festival in Forest Park, which is recognized as one of the largest and greenest Earth Day celebrations in the country, thanks to our zero-waste strategies and educational campaigns.
Our Festival, Recycling On the Go, and Green Dining Alliance programs touch approximately one million individuals yearly and prevent tons of material from going to the landfill every year. Since 2020, we've collaborated on 60+ successful Environmental Justice Days of Action in partnership with affected communities, in O'Fallon Park, Pine Lawn, Ferguson, Dutchtown South, and more. To date we've collected over 150,000 lbs of illegally dumped waste; in the Penrose neighborhood we collected over 4000 lbs of illegally dumped waste in just one morning. We also spearhead the Too Good To Waste campaign to educate the public about food waste's links to climate change, and how to change habits to make a big difference.
earthday365 collaborates with dozens of local nonprofits such as Ujima, North Newstead Association, Metropolitan Congregations United, One STL, the EarthWays Center, and more to help make Earth Day every day.
