BRO - Saint Louis
The BRO coordinates the work of religious and civic groups in providing toys for children and families in need during the holidays.
We recognize that play is the "work of children," their method of exploring and learning about the world. Gifts of new toys provides positive self worth to children and families and supplements the child's learning, by developing child creativity during hours of imaginative play at home.
We do this work in our community with a spirit of service and cooperation.

The BRO has a volunteer Board of Directors, approximately 15 regular volunteers who work at our office during the year, and one part-time paid staff member. In addition there are a host of volunteers who work on projects in their homes, through community organizations and congregations. The groups collect and purchase toys, games, books, make layette items, hats, scarves, mittens and more. During our toy distribution days following Thanksgiving, more volunteers arrive to assist in packing and distributing the gifts to our agencies. BRO clients are referred to us through a number of social service agencies.
In operation since 1922, serving the community in various capacities, we now seek to provide new toys, games, books and puzzles to 5,000 plus children in need, in the hope of making the holidays a happier time for the children and their families. In addition we are prepared to provide layettes for 500 newborns each year. The BRO aspires to offer meaningful volunteer opportunities, for seniors, retirees, mission teams and civic minded individuals looking for ways to give back to their community.
"Your donation of toys for all the children we serve made Christmas extra special for the families of Neighborhood Houses. BRO is such an incredible partner in ministry. We truly can't thank you enough." Ellen Reed-Fox, Vice President of Development of Neighborhood Houses
"Thank you so much for your generosity. Because of you, our kids were all able to have a gift to open this holiday season!" Katie Rahn, Executive Director of Southside Early Childhood Center.
