BandTogether is currently celebrating its 22nd Anniversary during the 2018-2019 season. Founded in March 1997, BandTogether was formed with the initial goal of participating in that June's St. Louis Pride Parade. From humble beginnings as a ten-member band, BandTogether has grown to include more than 150 musicians and performers organized into a Concert Band (performing four annual concerts), Marching Band (performing in the annual St. Louis Pride Parade), and Colorguard (performing with both the Concert and Marching Bands).

BandTogether is open to performers of all abilities. The group does not hold auditions and welcomes anyone over the age of 18 to bring his or her talent to participate. Members bring a variety of playing levels and performance talents, and come from all walks of life, ranging in age from 20 to over 60.

All BandTogether performances are presented at no charge to the public. BandTogether is a completely volunteer organization; members, officers, board members, and artistic directors receive no remuneration for the cumulative thousands of hours of effort that they contribute to the organization annually.
