Academy of the Sacred Heart

A nonprofit organization

The Academy of the Sacred Heart is an independent, private, Catholic elementary school, PK3 through eighth grade, located in St. Charles, Missouri. Founded in 1818 by Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne, the Academy was the first of many schools to be established by the Religious of the Sacred Heart in the Western Hemisphere. We are a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools. St. Philippine Duchesne, canonized in 1988, is buried on our grounds.

The Sacred Heart schools in the United States and Canada are united by the philosophy of education articulated through the Goals and Criteria. According to these goals, we educate to: a personal and active faith in God, a deep respect for intellectual values, personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom, a social awareness that impels to action and the building of community as a Christian value. The education we offer is strong in studies, serious in principle and rich in the spirit of life and love.

Mission

The Academy of the Sacred Heart educates and inspires the heart and mind of each child to become a courageous and confident leader who knows and loves God, and who reveals that love by serving others. To achieve our mission, we look to the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education, which give purpose to our objectives, a framework for our educational philosophy, and inspiration for all that we do.
