The mission of the Near Southside Employment Coalition (NSEC) is to equip individuals with quality training, connection to resources and access to opportunities necessary to obtain long-term employment leading to stable lives.

NSEC has trained over 540 persons in construction trades and office skills. We have placed over 7000 persons in employment over the past 40-years. Some of our services include job placement, job readiness education and training, career assessment and planning, computer classes, summer youth internships, job referral and follow-up, and transportation assistance.

We have also partnered with the other agencies in the community for financial education classes (provided by local bank) and nutrition classes (UMSL Extension Program). Some of the past and current local employers include, BJC, Delmar Gardens Nursing Home, Drury Inn Hotels, Doorways, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, CSL Labs, UPS, Ameren, Faultless Linen, U.S. Census Bureau, Cardinal Ritter Senior Services and City of St. Louis. We continue to add new community partners and businesses daily.

NSEC assists anyone who can get to us. We also provide post employment assistance, transportation assistance in the form of bus tickets and social service referral. We partner with socail service agencies and local colleages and universities to obtain assistance for our clients. We also partner with the local public school district to assist youth looking for jobs and internships.

We are a small organization located in the neighborhood where our clients live. This makes it convient for them to get to us. The local bus and metro transit system is utilized by most who recieve our serices.

Some of our current and past supporters include The Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis, Purina, Ameren, UPS Foundation, Incarnate Word Foundation, Walmart Community Grants Fund, Jewish Fund for Human Needs, St. Agatha's Center, Boeing, Anheuser-Busch, Pettus Foundation, St. Louis Community Foundation, and various individual donors.

We could not do this work without the support of the community. NSEC and its clients are appreicative any support received. Thank you for your kindness and support of the unemployed.
