Mary Ryder Home

A nonprofit organization

In 1930, during the Great Depression, our founder, Mary Elizabeth Ryder opened her doors to provide shelter for many women who found themselves abandoned, homeless and without support. At the end of the Depression, it was thought that Mary Ryder Home had "done its part" and its services would no longer be required. However, 88 years later Mary Ryder Home is still serving St. Louis' most vulnerable senior women. Today, we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit Residential Care Facility providing approximately 70 women, over the age of 55 - our neighbors - a safe place to call home. We offer peace of mind that comes from knowing our Residents won't have to sacrifice their health because they have to choose between rent, food or medicine.

Mission

Serving our most vulnerable senior women by nourishing their social, physical and mental health needs in a compassionate, residential care community.
