Fontbonne University was established in 1923 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Today, nearly 1,400 undergraduate and graduate students pursue degrees in 44 majors, 34 minors and 19 graduate programs. The university's student/faculty ratio of 10:1 ensures personal attention. As an institution, Fontbonne is committed to offering strong academic programs that prepare students for success in the 21st century, while encouraging and inspiring them to lead lives of purpose. Of our nearly 20,000 living alumni, 76 percent are women and 66 percent live or work in the greater St. Louis area, impacting the region through their work and service.
