Challenge Unlimited (CU) is a mission-driven social enterprise that provides a wide range of training programs, employment opportunities and housing solutions to individuals with disabilities. The organization was founded in 1959 by a group of parents who wanted their adult children with disabilities to gain vocational experiences that would lead to employment. Today, the organization has expanded its footprint to 5 states (Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin and South Carolina) and has federal facility support contracts at many of the nation's leading military bases (including Scott Air Force Base IL, Fort Leonard Wood MO, Fort McCoy WI, Great Lakes Naval Base IL and Goose Creek SC) which provides meaningful employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities. Of over 1,000 workers employed by CU, over 600 are individuals who are living with a disability.
In addition to our wide range of vocational opportunities and training programs, CU has also established a staffing division in St. Louis. This division focuses on placing individuals with disabilities, veterans, and individuals with disadvantages or other barriers to employment into temporary-to-permanent positions with St. Louis area businesses. As one of the only nonprofits in the region to offer temporary staffing services geared specifically toward individuals with disabilities and disadvantages, CU's Staffing Division has helped foster an inclusive work environment for employers while creating an additional pathway to independence for all abilities.
