SNIP Alliance

A nonprofit organization

SNIP Alliance provides low-cost spay/neuter services to low-income pet-owners in Madison and surrounding Illinois counties thus reducing pet-overpopulation. Our spay/neuter projects target low-income pet owners who have limited resources for affordable veterinary care or have little access to public transportation. SNIP Alliance contracts with two mobile spay-neuter units and brings the clinics into the areas of most need, performing 60-70+ surgeries over a two day period. Over 6,000 surgeries have been performed since 2012, reducing the euthanasia rate in Madison County by 49%.

In addition, due to the number of residents who live below poverty level and the reduction in work force at area factories, SNIP Alliance opened the RiverBend Pet Food Pantry in April 2016 supplying food on a monthly basis for up to three pets per home in order to decrease the number of animals that are surrendered or left to stray due to financial constraints. On a monthly basis we distribute 4,800-5,000 pounds of food and litter.

Mission

SNIP Alliance's mission is to promote spay and neuter of Illinois pets by subsidizing medical costs to reduce the number of unwanted animals and strays thereby decreasing the number of animals euthanized; provide education to Illinois citizens on the public health benefits of an altered pet, acting as a referral resource for animal welfare agencies; and aid pet-owners during times of financial crisis by providing temporary monthly pet food through our RiverBend Pet Food Pantry.
